Artist Lauren Crooke is creating an LGBTQIA+ series of photographic works in collaboration with Pride WA to be exhibited around Perth throughout Pride Month. The series will include a combination of individual portraits and group shoots conceptualised around the physical and verbal violence the LGBTQIA+ community experience on the streets of Perth.
We are asking the LGBTQIA+ for their expressions of interest to participate in these shoots as well as the opportunity to share your real stories and experiences with us that will be used to inspire concepts throughout the series.
If you identify within the LGBTQIA+ community and would like to put your name forward to participate in this series please fill out the form on this page. There will be space for you to submit your real stories of when you have experienced either physical or verbal violence on the streets of Perth. You may choose to remain anonymous.
We will be collating the stories and registrations to participate and meet with a creative team to map out the shoots dates, locations and concepts.
Some things to remember:
individual’s stories may be used anonymously and have no name or likeliness associated to them. This could mean that someone’s story may be used with another individual in the image.
The stories will serve as conceptual creative inspiration which may range from incorporating a feeling or location from one story in conjunction with other elements from another story, to using that exact story as it was submitted.
Once a photoshoot shoot schedule has been devised we will put a call-out to those who have registered to see who might be available to participate on those date for that activity.
Not all individuals who register will be able to participate in a shoot
Every shoot participant will be required to sign a model release consenting to their image to be used in distributed and exhibited works.
Any works that a participant may be involved in will not be given to them but will be available for purchase.
